See and do
Serene, beautiful Mjøsa and crowd-free ski trails
It may come as a surprise how much there is to experience along Mjøsa. Hamar is a compact region, and the distance from the lake to the ski resorts is short. Enjoy the beautiful cultural landscape along Mjøstråkk, a cycle route that takes you around the entire Mjøsa.
New Mjøsfronten in Hamar is a wonderful area with food trucks, straw umbrellas, yellow sun loungers, and a real summer holiday atmosphere. This popular area, right by the edge of the lake and close to Hamar town centre, has been a success from day one. And lake Mjøsa, she is always beautiful – whatever the time of year. Some winters, you may even find her in the guise of an ice queen.
Another Mjøsa gem is Domkirkeodden medieval heritage museum, which has been voted one of the world's most beautiful of its kind. And in the heart of the museum park is the spectacular Hamardomen – the old Hamar Cathedral.
We are also very fond of our white gold. When the snow starts to fall, the first to be clad in white is Budor in Løten, offering access to 300 km of cross-country ski trails. And apropos Løten: Did you know that this is the birthplace of Edvard Munch? The Hamar region has a vibrant cultural scene, with Hamar Kulturhus at its heart.
And the taste of the Hamar region? Well, it is local and can be sampled almost everywhere.
A warm welcome!
